Loading Dock Gallery announces its latest exhibit, Waterscapes, opening February 26th, featuring the work of twelve local artists. The inspiration for this reflective and serene showcase comes from a deep love for our aquatic ecosystems and a desire to raise awareness about the urgent need to protect ponds, lakes, rivers, and the wildlife they support. The exhibition blends art and environmental advocacy to inspire conservation efforts. This exhibition is more than a collection of art—it’s a call to action. Through diverse artistic expressions, it highlights the fragility of our waterways and encourages visitors to reflect on their role in preserving these vital ecosystems.  Join us at 1:00pm on Saturday, March 1st for a special presentation by Susan Baur, co-founder of OLAUG, Old Ladies Against Underwater Garbage.  At 3pm Brian Henderson from the Shawsheen River Watershed Association will give a short talk.shawsheenriver.net

This workshop will explore some of the ways that poets respond to a work of art in order to create a of dialogue between the artist and the poet, leading to the creation of a further work of art:  the poem.  Specific topics may include, turning elements of a work of art into imagery; finding ways to intensify language to capture the intensity of the representation in a work of art; approaches to a work of art, including the movement from abstract art to concrete imagery and the movement from silence to sound as well as narrative poetry; and integrating the medium of the artist and the message/effect of the poet.  This workshop will include opportunities for attendees to try out some of the described elements by writing in response to a number of the artworks accepted into the show, Living in America.

In October the Loading Dock Gallery presents a NE Regional, juried show: Living in America.  Juried by Patrick McCay, a professor at the Institute of Art and Design, New England College, selected artists answer the question “What does living in America  mean to me?”  Using their preferred mediums, their experiences and unique perspectives they present an artistic portrayal of what it means to live and work in this Great Experiment.

Join the artists for a reception from 3-5pm, Saturday, October 5th.  Juror Patrick McCay will give a talk at 4pm followed by awards.  Enjoy the art and stay for the Tenth Annual Poetry Convergence immediately following the reception.

ONLINE JURIED SHOWS
After an initial exhibit at the First Parish in Bedford (MA) the exhibition “Affirmation of Life. Art from Today’s Ukraine” is scheduled for the Loading Dock Gallery’s showcase this February.  Nataliya Proskura from the Ukrainian Cultural Initiative says;
"When planning our exhibition, we envisioned creating a collection for American viewers who have actively supported Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion....We call it "a reflection of the Ukrainian style". It will be experienced and recognized by the exhibition guests, who will get acquainted with the work of Ukrainian artists. Ukrainian visitors will find themselves in the atmosphere of a familiar world and the native beauty of their country. Moreover, our challenge was to cover as many artistic trends as possible and to present them with gratefulness to the United States of America."
The proceeds from the sale of artworks and donations will be directed to the artists living and working in Ukraine; to the support of children's art schools; and to art therapy for veterans.
